The Society of Indexers’ annual National Indexing Day is on Wednesday 30th March this year.
And, in what is becoming an annual tradition, I have created another word cloud for 2022. I chose two or three words from each of the indexes that I have written this year and added them to the cloud.1
I have enjoyed working on a range of books again this year, mostly in my specialisms of theology, English literature and cultural studies, but also including some technical topics, where I drew on my previous experience as a technical author in the energy industry.
My favourite projects are those that combine two of my specialisms. This happened twice this year. Firstly, I created an embedded index for a book that examined the convergence of biblical interpretation and early modern English literature.2 Secondly, I worked on a beautifully illustrated book that combines the cultural history of hair colouring from Ancient Egypt to the present day, with the chemistry of hair dyes and the health and safety concerns related to them.3
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next indexing year will bring.
